Free stock footage can be a big help for student films, for establishing shots, backgrounds or filling a gap in an edit. One tip: check the license on each clip before you use it, because some free clips require credit to the creator and some sites mix free and paid content.

Keep a simple list of every stock clip and its license in your project folder, which makes festival and distribution paperwork much easier later. What are your favorite sources for free footage, music or sound effects?
