Narrowing of the business

I read an interesting statement by someone that the business was narrowing. I have to disagree with that. There are so many opportunities for distribution these days the business and opportunities to work are expanding!

I am going off BFI statistics - low and no budget filmmaking is decreasing. There was a peak of low budget films in 2008-2010 brought on by dslr filmmaking and crowdfunding - however since 2010 low budget filmmaking is falling and will carry on falling. Which is good news for serious filmmakers I think, there will be less competition and quality should increase.

Where are those statistics? Do you have a link? From what I see because we have more need for content from places like, netflix, yahoo, amazon, youtube and others there is now more demand that every? Thanks for posting!

We are definitely over saturated with film now, but I do believe the original buzz is over.

I disagree. I think this is wishful thinking. There is a huge demand for video content.
