Quick Tip, Flexibility!

When recording a scene try an have two kinds of mics recording. One boom (left channel) and one lav (right channel). Allows flexibility when you start editing. If it's a two person scene try two lavs into the right channel and one boom in the left. You may need a mixer for this second setup but it's worth it!

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. Thank you for this tip, Bryant. Recording a boom on one channel and a lav on the other is still standard practice, and it gives the editor a choice when one source has clothing rustle or background noise. Today many recorders and wireless systems also offer 32-bit float recording or a lower-gain safety track, which protects against clipping. Members, how do you set up your channels for a two-person scene?
