Screen Writing Software

[Kim Welch]

I am just wondering what kind of screen writing software there is out there besides Final Draft? Does anyone know of the best software for writing and working with scripts?

Update, November 2026
Besides Final Draft, popular screenwriting software includes WriterDuet, Fade In, Celtx, Arc Studio and Highland. Several have free versions or trials.

There are a number of different ones:
Movie Magic Screenwriting
Writers Duet - https://writerduet.com
Celtx
Adobe Story - http://story.adobe.com

Those are the ones I know of other than Final Draft.

Has you or anyone tried the Adobe Story? How does it compare?

I use Fade In on my laptop, iPad and iPhone... I find it better than Final Draft... but it's a personal choice thing
