I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. Making trailers is a great skill, and a lesson from your story: recutting studio trailers can get taken down, so original work and your own projects are the safest way to build a reel. If you're still cutting trailers and...

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. A Sachtler with a fluid head and a Sennheiser ME66 were both solid choices back then. Today the same advice holds: buy the best fluid-head tripod you can afford, since it lasts through many cameras, and pair it with a good...

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. For an 11-year-old starting video, a smartphone or a simple camera that shoots HD is perfect for learning framing, editing and sound. Add a small tripod and a clip-on mic, and free DaVinci Resolve or CapCut for editing. Since...

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. For following people in their natural environment, a short shotgun on a boom or camera is versatile, and a wireless lav on your main subject gives you the clearest dialogue. In humid climates, store mics with silica gel packs...

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. Two brothers robbing a scalper for sold-out concert tickets is a fun, clear premise. When you're stuck on an ending, ask what each brother learns and what it costs them; a twist where the tickets turn out to be fake or the show...

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. You make a good point: many directors dream of a big sound but don't plan time and budget for music. Bringing a composer in early, even at the script stage, helps. If you're still composing, post a reel in the Composers forum...

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. When audio slowly drifts out of sync in a recording, it's usually a frame-rate or sample-rate mismatch. Try conforming the clip to the correct frame rate (often 29.97), make sure the audio is 48 kHz, or separate the audio and...

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. A clip that renders exactly one second short often comes from an export range set by In and Out points, a frame rate mismatch, or a codec that drops the last GOP. Check the export range, match the sequence frame rate to the...

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. Adobe offers a free trial of Premiere Pro through its website, usually seven days. If you want a free alternative to try longer, DaVinci Resolve has a full free version. I hope you found the right editor!

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. The HV20 records 24p inside a 60i stream, and older iMovie versions didn't remove the pulldown, so you get 29.97 instead of true 24p and some quality loss from extra compression. Final Cut Pro (or a tool that removes pulldown)...

I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. Most editors have a timecode or counter effect: in Premiere Pro, add the Timecode effect or a text layer, and in DaVinci Resolve or After Effects, use a counter or the clip's timecode in a title. Start it at zero on the snap and...
