Can anyone point me in the right direction to get some basic info on how to colour grade. (a website address maybe...) what im looking for is basic tips. Ill be using either after effects or avid symphony.
cheers
I apologize for the delay in responding, and thank you for posting. A good place to start with color grading is to separate it into two steps: correction (fixing exposure, white balance and contrast so shots match) and grading (creating the look and mood).
Today, the free version of DaVinci Resolve is a great tool to learn grading, and Blackmagic Design offers free training guides for it. Learn to read the scopes (waveform and vectorscope) rather than trusting your monitor alone. Our Editing & Post-production forum and the classes at https://studentfilmmakers.com/courses/ are good places to keep learning.
