Why don't we see more short films on TV?

Why is it that short films never really see the likes of cable networks and certain networks? I mean it'd be a great way to put short films near the end of movies that end early or something like that. What do you guys think?

generally because theres a bunch of legal stuff and timing involved, followed by if the network likes it or the viewers
